How to specify an L-sealer machine
A good enquiry should describe the production job clearly enough to confirm whether an L-sealer, side sealer, sleeve sealer or another shrink wrapping route is the best fit.
1. Start with the pack
Measure the product or grouped pack accurately. Include the maximum and minimum length, width, height and weight, and explain whether the product is rigid, unstable, light, glossy, heat-sensitive or irregular.
2. Confirm the film
Film type and thickness affect seal quality, tunnel settings, shrink finish and running cost. Confirm whether POF, PE or another film is preferred and whether samples are available for testing.
3. Define output honestly
State the required packs per minute or packs per hour based on actual production. Include changeovers, operator availability and upstream/downstream bottlenecks.
4. Check the line layout
Allow space for loading film, access to controls, infeed spacing, tunnel outfeed, maintenance and safe operator movement. Avoid specifying the sealing machine in isolation if the heat tunnel and conveying will constrain throughput.
5. Compare quotation scope
Check whether delivery, installation, commissioning, training, guarding, spares, conveyors and aftercare are included. A cheaper headline machine can become more expensive if the support scope is unclear.
